Imo Seriously Needs Industries To Create Jobs,So , Tame Insecurity

Industries are the key driver of any great economy. Little wonder the leading countries of the world are the most industrialised.

Industries remain key in boosting a nation’s exports, earning foreign exchange, aside the critical issue of job creation.

Industries also portend catalytic effect on agriculture. The presence of industries can create economy for the the agricultural sector by pushing up demand for raw materials and reducing imports.

Even more important is the fact that industries create jobs for the army of school leavers, thereby minimizing youth restiveness.

This must have informed the aggressive industrialisation policies of the likes of M.I Okpara in the then Eastern Region and Dee Sam Mbakwe as governor of the old Imo State.

It could be said that the dearth of industries in Imo State is majorly responsible for the high unemployment rate in the state.

Again, it is equally altruistic that nexus exists between unemployment and insecurity.

To achieve the much-needed industrialization of Imo state, the government must be up and doing.

The  state government  must leverage well- thought out policies and incentives to attract industrialists to invest in the state. It is our believe that this is not a tall order but achievable.
